Kasuga Taisha, located at the base of Mikasayama
on the eastern edge of the Nara basin in Nara City,
Nara Prefecture was established in 768
as a guardian shrine for the Heijō Capital.
In 2018 it will be exactly 1250 years since the shrine was founded.
