Kimono Experience

Do you know how to wear Kimono?

There are no buttons or zippers, only strings and ties.

So, dressing in Kimono needs special knowledge and skill.

Nowadays, most Japanese people can’t put on Kimono by themselves!

Still, many want to wear Kimono at weddings and other celebrations.

Why? Because anyone can feel gorgeous when wearing Kimono!

So, when Japanese people want to wear Kimono,

they use services at hotels or beauty salons to help them dress properly.

Rental Kimono shops are especially popular with overseas visitors,

and Nara has many of them.

“Enishi-ya” in Naramachi has good taste and a selection of unique Kimono.

They have a lovely retro feel, like something from the early 20th century.

If you walk around Naramachi wearing Enishi-ya’s Kimono,

you can really feel you are experiencing traditional Japan!

This is the modern style of wearing Kimono with boots.

Actually, when you wear Kimono properly,

you have to walk taking small steps.

So, it’s not really recommended to walk around Nara Park with Kimono.

How about visiting Nara Park in the morning,

then coming to Naramachi to change into Kimono?
