Tonkatsu

Happy New Year 2019!

May everyone all over the world be happy!!

Many people have refreshed themselves, made resolutions,

and started the new year.

However, many students, and their parents,

have become nervous in Japan.

The entrance examination season has started.

Japanese people follow superstitions to reduce anxiety.

One such superstition is eating pork cutlets before exams.

Do you know why?

Pork cutlets are known as TONKATSU in Japanese.

TON means pork and KATSU means cutlet,

but KATSU has another meaning …“win” 「勝つ」.

“Win the exam!”

Don’t you want to try TONKATSU now?

Here is a lovely TONKATSU restaurant “POKU POKU” in Naramachi.

Their TONKATSU is crispier and

more tender than any pork you’ve ever eaten.

You can choose the size of the cutlet from 80, 120, 150, or 200 grams.

No sauce is needed, but the special salt really brings out the flavour.

There is also soup stuffed with a variety of ingredients,

and free refills of rice.

It’s very satisfying, and very filling!

Why not try it yourself?

This is 120 grams.
